Over two-thirds of children in Illinois waiting for adoption, and two-thirds of children in foster care today, are African Americans.  As such, Catholic Charities is dedicated to finding homes for these children.  Will your home be one of them?

Children Need You...
Older children, brothers and sisters who need to stay together and children with medical problems such as babies born with cocaine in their systems need you the most.  However, healthy, younger children need you too.

You Need To Be At Least 21 Years Old
Your age will be taken into consideration in relation to the age of the children placed in your home.

You Don't Have To Be Catholic
The children waiting to be adopted, adoptive families, foster families and staff at Catholic Charities are of many faiths and beliefs.

You Don't Have To Be Married
You may work, as long as you have a reliable child care plan.

You Don't Have To Be A Stay-At-Home Parent
You may be a renter or a homeowner.  Children may live in your home as long as you have adequate bedroom space.

Catholic Charities Will Walk You Through The Process
Trained staff from Catholic Charities Children's Services will guide you through the process, step by step, as you make the decision to share your love and home with a child who is waiting for you.

There Are No Income Requirements
Children are waiting who can be adopted with no adoption fee.  Monthly subsidies are available for adopted children over age 3, for younger children with special needs and for groups of brothers and sisters.  Foster families receive monthly payments to cover expenses.  Medical cards cover medical and dental treatment.  Your ability to love and nurture a child is more important than your financial situation.

If You Cannot Adopt, There Is Another Way You Can Help
Foster families for children of all ages are also desperately needed.  You can provide loving, temporary care for children until they can safely return home.
