“For I was hungry, and you gave me food . . .
What so ever you did for the least of my brothers and sisters,
You did it for me.” Matthew 25:35-41
At Catholic Charities we know this scripture passage well. It’s the backbone of who we are and what we do. It’s what has inspired many to help Catholic Charities and become partners in helping the poor. During the months of March and April we have a special opportunity to raise some funds for Shepherd’s Table. Shepherd’s Table, our soup kitchen in Joliet, serves over 70,000 meals each year to those who are hungry and those who are living at our homeless shelter, Daybreak Center. Our staff and countless dedicated volunteers know that without Shepherd’s Table, many people, including little children, would go hungry.
Alan Shawn Feinstein, a philanthropist dedicated to eliminating hunger in our country, has issued another challenge that says that he will add some of his own money for each donation we receive for Shepherd’s Table. The more money we raise, the more of his money we will receive – and he has one million dollars to give away!
Please send in a donation restricted for Shepherd’s Table between March 1st and April 30th. Please make checks payable to: Shepherd’s Table. You can also click here to Donate Now or call Margaret at 815.724.1140 and she can process the transaction for you.
Bless you for your support of Catholic Charities. Together we are doing God’s work – and feeding God’s hungry children! If you can’t send a gift, please remember those who are hungry in your prayers. |
